Large telecom company
Transforming an analytics practice
Client
Our client is one of the largest telecom companies in the country. It’s B2B division, drives a significant amount of company revenue. This means that marketing for B2b offerings is one of the most critical success vectors for the entire company. For B2B to be successful, it needs high-quality data and the insights that follow from it.
Problem
The B2B division engaged our team to help renew confidence in the insights coming from its data. Confidence had eroded for several reasons. The data was:
- Spread across platforms and sources
- Extracted from data siloes without a cohesive strategy across siloes
- Analyzed in Excel, required constant manipulation, and was prone to error
Solution
Amplify assembled a solution team consisting of data engineers and data visualization experts that was led by a data architect. This team adopted a holistic approach consisting of three primary perspectives: ETL, analysis, and display.
- ETL: Consolidated data from multiple sources into a single data warehouse and provided data marts for curated sets
- Analysis: Partnered with stakeholders to define logic, model data, and answer the important questions
- Display: Published Power BI dashboards for easy consumption across stakeholders & channel owners
Results
- Renewed confidence in data-driven insights delivered across B2B division
- Unified reporting solution with a plan for stakeholders across ETL, analysis, and display functions
- Automated data extraction into Azure
- Automated dashboard updates and increased data refresh frequency by 7x
- Five Power BI dashboards with direct connection to Azure with self-service options and exception reporting
- Suite of ‘plug & play’ tools for data ingestion, scalability, and configuration of future data sources
